New York Prom Photographer: Prom Photos in NYC

Having Prom photos taken in NYC can be really cool. Especially when your prom is being hosted at the Waldorf Astoria in New York. Stephanie wanted some pre-prom photos taken back home in Long Island, NY before driving into the city to meet her boyfriend at the Waldorf where her school, Bronx Science was hosting their High School Senior Prom. As the students were making their way in, I took some quick portraits outside of the couple before heading in to take more creative photos inside the lobby of the Waldorf. The prom was about to begin and we literally had only a few minutes left to take the photos. The couple as well as everyone else just wanted to go and party! Stephanie was quite happy with these photos. They certainly were not the average typical prom school photos that are usually taken on a plain backdrop by a contracted school photographer. They are definitely unique and provide way more variety. You can read more about what Pre-Prom photos are in my previous blog post. What are Pre-Prom Photos?

Pre-Prom Photos are photos that can be taken either prior to your actual prom date, or, they can be taken just after everyone is dressed and about to leave for the Prom. Typically they are taken the day of Prom Night before heading off for the big party.

Why take Pre-Prom Photos?

Although there are almost always photo packages available by the school’s photographer at the Prom event, the photos are usually taken on regular plain backdrops. Typically the same traditional poses are taken at the same crop for everyone and there is not much of a diversity in crops, angles, backgrounds and lighting as there is if you hire a professional Prom Photographer. A professional photographer can be hired to come before leaving for the event to take some creative photos utilizing different environmental backdrops in addition to taking pictures at unique angles and crops.

What are some advantages of taking Pre-Prom Photos?

There are many advantages of taking Pre-Prom photos some include having more photos taken of yourself, your date, your friends and sometimes even your family and your pet. You can also take them at your home, or another location in route to your prom. You can also take group photos with your friends.

How long does a Pre-Prom photoshoot last?

Typically it takes about 45 minutes to an hour but it also depends if you are adding additional couples or if you want your own private individualized session. If you want to add an additional location that can play a factor. As you see you can make your Pre-Prom photoshoot customized to your needs.

How much does a Pre-Prom photoshoot cost?

It depends. As mentioned before Pre-prom photoshoots can be customized to include individuals and/or additional couples and groups. In most cases Pre-Prom shoots are done in groups as parties. Since most kids split the limo and go to prom in giant groups, a Pre-Prom shoot can actually be a great deal when you split the cost between the other couples and do a group package. You can wind up with professional photos of each individual child, couple and sometimes even the Parents can be included in the photos if they are around. Most parents want at least one really nice photo of their teenager. It’s such a great idea to have a professional photographer come to capture professional photos when they are dressed up for this special night.

Here are a few photos from a Pre-Prom photo session. The Prom was held at the Waldorf Astoria in New York, NY. I met Stephanie at her house in Queens, NY and took a few photos of her and her friend before leaving for the city where i took additional photos of her and her boyfriend. I will post those photos in the next blog post. As you can see, I took photos of both girls individually and together. I also took photos of each girl and her family. As I mentioned before it is always great if you can include the family in the photos with the teen. Prom night is a special night. You will definitely want a nice photo taken with your mom/dad/family to remember this.

This couple had an amazing wedding day at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Long Island, NY. It was a special day for them filled with lots of love and emotion as they united as one in front of all their beloved family and friends. I had the honor to be a part of their special day as I captured these beautiful memories that they will cherish forever.

I absolutely loved that they did a first look or what is also known as “The Reveal”. A first look or reveal is often done before the ceremony in order for the Bride and Groom to get all the formal pictures done before the Reception. Quite often there is simply not enough time to take all the formals right after the ceremony as the cocktail hour and reception immediately follows.

Can’t you just feel all their love and emotion. I absolutely loved the groom’s reaction.

And then the wedding ceremony began.

The toasts on a wedding day certainly have the potential to be some of the most memorable moments of the day. There are the emotions of laughter and joy as the brides daughter recounts a tale of a typical day in the household.

Then a very heartfelt and emotional groom thanks his family and friends for being a part of his special day followed by a toast to his bride for blessing him with her love.

Long Island Communion Photographer/Communion Photos

Long Island Communion Photographer.

Emily and her family celebrated her Communion day by taking some communion photos in order to highlight this very special and important event in her life. After her communion mass I met with the family outside of the church for a few quick communion portraits.

We then proceeded to Garden City park so that we could take a few more photos before Emily and her family went to celebrate this momentous occasion.

I love these photos taken in the gardens by the gazebo of Emily reading from her first holy communion book.

What a beautiful communion dress! She looks like a little bride.

I love that Mom, Dad and her brother took pictures with her as well. I am sure that Emily will look back at these pictures one day and be thankful that she also had pictures of herself with her family in her communion dress.

First Communion Photos document a very special time in a young child’s life. It is a very meaningful day, and has very important significance. Many parents choose to document this special time with beautiful, professional portraits of their child wearing the special dress or the suit that was worn on the special day.

Central Park Engagement Photos

Central Park Engagement Photos

What’s not to love about these Central Park engagement photos? A great choice of location in NYC to have your engagement photos taken? A beautiful, sweet couple? Oh wait I know (drumroll) ……. the adorable puppy!!!!! How can you not resist this handsome furry guy all dressed up for the occasion in a tux? He even had on a red bow tie. He was just way too adorable. I was so thrilled when Michelle & Mike told me that they were going to bring their dog, Cavalli to be part of their engagement shoot. Being the animal lover that I am, I always get excited when clients want to include their pets in their pictures. Pets are like family and are special to us so why not include them in your engagement shoot? Not only that but sometimes logistics don’t work out on your wedding day where you will be able to include your dog in the photos or, better yet finding a caretaker to take care of your pooch on the wedding day can be more stressful than it’s worth. Having your furry friend involved in the pics prior to the wedding date is a great alternative.

Here are some of my favorites from the photo session. These were all taken in Central Park, NYC. It was great capturing Michelle and Mike’s love and I look forward to shooting their wedding in Long Island, NY this month.
