What’s not to love about these Central Park engagement photos? A great choice of location in NYC to have your engagement photos taken? A beautiful, sweet couple? Oh wait I know (drumroll) ……. the adorable puppy!!!!! How can you not resist this handsome furry guy all dressed up for the occasion in a tux? He even had on a red bow tie. He was just way too adorable. I was so thrilled when Michelle & Mike told me that they were going to bring their dog, Cavalli to be part of their engagement shoot. Being the animal lover that I am, I always get excited when clients want to include their pets in their pictures. Pets are like family and are special to us so why not include them in your engagement shoot? Not only that but sometimes logistics don’t work out on your wedding day where you will be able to include your dog in the photos or, better yet finding a caretaker to take care of your pooch on the wedding day can be more stressful than it’s worth. Having your furry friend involved in the pics prior to the wedding date is a great alternative.

Here are some of my favorites from the photo session. These were all taken in Central Park, NYC. It was great capturing Michelle and Mike’s love and I look forward to shooting their wedding in Long Island, NY this month.

NYC Engagement Photos. I was so excited when my neighbor and friend called me to let me know that he was planning on proposing to his girlfriend and wanted me to document it. I knew that she was hoping and waiting to see when he would finally pull the trigger. His plan was to propose to her in Central Park and then take some just engaged photos right afterwards. This is always a great idea and some couples are now doing their NYC Engagement Photography session immediately right after they get engaged! Such a great idea.

We discussed some spots where he was considering to pop the question. He wanted somewhere not as busy, but that was not an easy task at around 5-6 p.m. in Central Park on a Sunday! I was also a bit nervous being that she was my friend and knew that I was a photographer. I was afraid that if she ran into me that she may suspect something was up but she really had no idea!

I love shooting NYC Engagement Photos! Not only are there so many great locations to choose from in the actual city, there are some fantastic locations to be found in Queens and in Brooklyn. Take for example Lo & Sam’s engagement shoot. Lo and I know each other from coaching at World Ice Arena in Flushing Meadows Park, NY (Here’s a little tidbit of personal information about myself, when I am not shooting I also work as a figure skating coach) so when we discussed location ideas for the engagement session I was pretty excited that they were thinking about doing it in Flushing Meadows Park. The park is a lot larger than you can imagine and there is so much to do. It is so large that it stretches along two sides of the Grand Central Parkway. First, if you don’t already know and you are not a tennis fan, it is home to the USTA which hosts the US Open Tennis Tournament each September. In addition to that there is also a museum, theatre, a zoo, golf, miniature golf, a skating rink and a swimming pool and of course there is the iconic Worlds Fair Unisphere. And of course let’s not forget CitiField.

We were really blessed with great weather on the day of their shoot. We originally scheduled the week before but it was quite nasty, cold, dreary with on and off rain and had to postpone the shoot. We started by taking a few photos near the museum and then took a walk near the World’s Fair Unisphere to capture some photos there. We finished just as the sun was going down capturing some photos near some cherry blossoms. I was quite happy that I stumbled upon them as they were not there the week before. What a difference a week makes! It certainly made the postponement worth it. :o)
