Long Island Headshots/In Studio or Outdoors

June was a busy month filled with events and headshot sessions.  Summer is finally here and after the winter that we had  this year we all couldn’t be any happier.  Headshot sessions have picked up because the longer days and nice weather have allowed for more opportunities to photograph outdoors for those who prefer to do so.  I often get asked where I do my headshot sessions, if I do them in studio, on location, or both.  The answer simply is all of the above.  I will primarily use natural light whenever possible or when it is available.  I find that it is the most flattering for everyone, especially women.  If done in studio, I will always make use of natural light and generally use either a white, gray or black backdrop for a clean, conventional look.  If lighting conditions are poor then I will need to introduce a continuous light  source or add either studio flash or a bounced fill flash.  If done outdoors, I will scout out a few areas that allow for clean simple backgrounds with the best lighting conditions.  Here are some recent headshots that i did in studio and then outdoors.  All of these images were shot using natural available light only.

On May 15th, on top of a rooftop lounge at the Gansevoort Park Hotel in NYC, I had the opportunity to capture some  images for a special event.  The event was emceed by Lucy Norris of  “On Deck with Lucy Norris”.   Rick Galvin, talent manager of CG Talent Management and founder of the Carol Galvin Foundation hosted a fundraiser to benefit  two mothers fighting breast cancer.  Rick started the Carol Galvin Foundation in honor of his mother whom he lost to cancer when he was 11 yrs old.  The foundation benefits women that are fighting cancer.   Many special guests gathered  together that evening to be a part of  this great cause.  Amongst them was talented singer and anti-bullying activist  and advocate Meredith O’Connor.  The rising music sensation performed her new single, Just the Thing which is currently available for download on Itunes.  Meredith is gratiously donating 75% of all the proceeds  from the sale of her single to the Carol Galvin Foundation.  You can download her new single  by clicking here.    Later that evening she performed a duet with music artist D Gray Grayson.  Saboroma Couture sponsored the event, of which 100% of the proceeds went to two special mothers that are fighting cancer;  Cathy Marino and Diana Polanco.  Later that evening, Saboroma treated guests to  a fashion show that featured Victoria Secrets model Terese Pagh.  The fashion show showcased some of Saboroma’s latest collection of beautiful evening gowns and cocktail dresses.

Featured below is a collage of images from the event including some of  the red carpet arrivals, Meredith’s performances, Saboroma’s Fashion Show and the thank you speeches.

Springtime is here……the birds are chirping and the beautiful flowers have all bloomed.  I especially love the pink flowers on the branches.  Since i also work as a skating coach at Worlds Ice Arena in Flushing Meadows Park, NY  I get to spend lots of time in the park.  One afternoon, I took a walk through the park and found a beautiful spot filled with these flowers  for this children’s photo session.  At first Julia wore a beautiful blue dress, I tried getting some posed shots with her holding the flowers and  smelling them.

We had a great time shooting these beautiful images.  At the end, Julia  got a big hug from her Mommy and went to get some ice cream.

I just love photographing women.  Women of every age, shape and size.  I love it when women get to experience  how beautiful they truly are.  We as women are always hard on ourselves, are self-conscious of our image, of our flaws and often we don’t see and just forget how beautiful we really are.   Here are some really great images from my recent shoot with Marie.  The theme of this shoot was Contemporary, Elegant, Magazine-style  Glamour and Boudoir.  The goal of this shoot was to create images that are classic, timeless  and elegant.  This style of photography is for every woman.  Many women secretly wish to have magazine-style photos of themselves.  Often we just dismiss that idea of ever having them because we feel we are not “photogenic” enough.  Unfortunately many of us fail to realize that it is the job of the photographer, through skills of proper lighting, posing and angles to capture you in the most flattering, appealing way that emphasizes your beauty.   Don’t feel like posing in lingerie?    No problem.  You can still have beautiful, magazine-style portraits taken and don’t have to wear it if you are not comfortable or if you just don’t want to.  You don’t need to pose in lingerie in order to have beautiful photos of yourself.  You’ll have hair and make-up done….a day of beauty, a model experience you will never forget and beautiful photos that you will be proud of and that will serve as keepsakes  long after your experience is over.  Want to have this experience for yourself?  Contact me at info@irenebellaphotography.com to book a session.

Wedding season is officially here and that means brides are looking to get wedding gifts for their grooms.  You are feeling the happiest, excited and the most beautiful you ever have.  This is the perfect time to document all these feelings.  Give him and/or yourself something that you both can cherish for many years.  Bridal boudoir  photos or just beautiful portraits of you!  Or even a combination of both.   Boudoir need not just be about wearing lingerie.  This beautiful client came in recently so she could gift these photos as both a wedding gift and a birthday gift to her groom to be.  Here are some highlights from her session.  I can’t wait to hear how much her hubby loves his gift.  :o)
