NYC Wedding Photographer/Renewal of Vows

I had the privilege and honor of capturing this couple’s wedding last November at Villa Russo in NYC. It was a special wedding for this couple since they were renewing their wedding vows. Since they never had a traditional wedding that included all the bells and whistles when they married years ago, they wanted to have this wedding be the wedding that they never had, which included a wedding reception, photographer, dj, flowers, wedding cake, bridal party and all the traditional highlights that usually occur at a wedding such as first dance, cake eating, bouquet and garter toss. I don’t see many bridal and garter tosses at wedding receptions nowadays but theirs was special because it had a bit of a twist. Instead of having the gentleman that caught the garter put the garter on the lady that caught the bouquet, the person that caught the garter had to put the garter on his wife and that couple would have to renew their vows within the next year! I think that this idea was awesome. Not only was it a creative twist but it is so special to see couples who have been married 20 years or more renewing their vows again. It is such a special way of reaffirming the love that a couple has for one another and reminding yourselves what you promised all those years ago to each other. And there are many ways that you can reaffirm your vows. Here are some good ideas and tips on wedding vow renewal. What do you think? Here is one of my favorite fall family sessions of 2014. I absolutely loved this photo session with Lucas. Lucas, a typical two year old child was so much fun to capture. He is such a happy go lucky little boy. He was just all smiles throughout the session despite the chilly day. He played with the pumpkins and even posed with his mommy and daddy for a few family photos. I always love to include the parents in the photos, they are usually my favorites. I love the laughter, the smiles and the little giggles in between the shots. I know as adults it’s all about capturing our children, but it’s just as important to exist in these photos as well. It’a part of your family history and legacy and someday your children will appreciate the fact that you were in the photos with them. After Lucas finished posing for his photos, he got a lollipop, a well deserved treat for being such a good boy. :o) I got a few more shots of him as he started posing for me with his lollipop.

The last few months have been busy and I have completely neglected to blog so since Valentines Day is only 6 weeks away I figured I will start the year with a new boudoir post. In my sessions, I usually like to incorporate both boudoir and glamour style photos into the shoot, especially if my client is doing this for herself and is not doing this as a gift for her partner. I often get asked “what do I wear or what shall i bring?” I usually like to start my sessions with a couple of glamour shots that are quite contemporary in style. For these shots I like to have my subject wear a sexy dress, sweater or something casual and fun. This usually allows for my subject to relax and then as we progress we can either continue to keep it conservative, or we get into the lingerie.

Listed below are some photos from one of my sessions in 2014. For this shoot a simple sheer top, corset and a black costume headpiece/hat kept the shoot contemporary, soft and romantic.

A couple of months ago, I had an opportunity to photograph a child photo session in Queens, NYC. It was a warm day in late October and the leaves were already changing colors. I generally like to take fall sessions in late October until mid November. It usually is the peak of the fall foliage season and the weather is still not too cold for the little ones. We picked a location near my client’s home and it was absolutely perfect! It just goes to show you that sometimes simple locations near your home can have much to offer and that a photo session needs not to get complicated, especially where children are concerned. Lea, chose many pretty outfits for her session and she wanted to wear them all! She was quite the little poser as well. Even though she was a little tired at the start of the session, she started to have some fun and we got some nice pictures.

This summer I had the pleasure to photograph Stephanie again. But this time it wasn’t for headshots, but for her Sweet 16 Birthday Party at the Sheraton Laguardia East in NYC. Apparently she wasn’t really interested in having a Sweet 16 party for herself but after attending a friends, she immediately dialed her Mom and Dad from the party and told them ” I want one.” To which they replied, “you want what?” ” A party…..a Sweet 16 party.” Mom and Dad both agreed and then all the preparations began.

It was a beautiful summer evening at the Sheraton. Stephanie had her party in one of their ballrooms and we got to take advantage of taking some photos on their beautiful outdoor terrace.
