NYC Senior Portraits/Dylan’s Senior Photos

It was so much fun taking these NYC Senior Portraits of Dylan.  Dylan was such a natural in front of the camera.  He looks like a model, doesn’t he?  You can see how at ease he was and how much he enjoyed taking these senior photos.  Many people think that senior photo sessions are just for girls but this is not the case.  Boys can have fun doing these type of photos to!    Senior photo shoots are meant to be individualized and customized to a Senior’s individual personality.  Most boys don’t enjoy being posed in a formal suit or outfit.  Why not have them dress in their style and capture them in the environments that they enjoy being in and/or with a prop of an activity that they enjoy doing or are involved in.  Since Dylan loved being in grungy urban streets and loved riding his skateboard, I took his photos in a urban location and had him bring his skateboard.  I had him dressed in a black hoodie and black ripped jeans that worked real well in the environment we worked in.   Other ideas for senior boys include having them pose in front of a car, bike, motorcycle, or, taking some cool athletic photos of the sport that they play, i.e., basketball, football, hockey, baseball, soccer, etc.  These can be taken either in studio or on location at their high school gym, football field or baseball field.  The possibilities are endless!  If you are a senior in High School and would like to have your own individualized senior stylized shoot instead of having the same old boring photo with a rose and cape everyone else gets, if you want to be different and most importantly experience something different please contact me here.

Below are some favorites from this photo shoot with Dylan.

NYC Senior Photographer/Samantha’s Urban Session

NYC SENIOR PHOTOGRAPHER/SAMANTHA’S URBAN SESSION

NYC offers so many fantastic, unique and diverse locations for a NYC Senior Photographer.  High school seniors are all different.  They all have unique personalities, interests and hobbies.  This is why it is great to have a unique and customized senior photo session as opposed to the traditional cap and gown and black cape and rose portraits taken at school.  Yes, you do still need to take the cap and gown photo for the yearbook but you can still have your own unique, stylized professional photos to commemorate this special time in your/your child’s life.  With a stylized photo shoot, seniors get to experience and feel like they are fashion models while having fun and an experience that they will remember forever.  The outcome is gorgeous photos that they and you will have for a lifetime.

There are so many ways that a senior photo session can be stylized in NYC.  Seniors can get dressed up in pretty dresses and go to a park such as Central Park for their photos, or, if they are just too “cool” for the park and prefer to be more casual they can opt for a more urban or grungy look.  The streets of NYC offer plenty of  locations for that in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens.  Some areas even offer both environments just minutes away.

Below are some of my favorite photos from Samantha’s senior session.  For her session we went to a few street locations in her neighborhood of Queens that had commercial buildings and graffiti.  Since Samantha likes to skateboard, we used her skateboard as a prop for some of her photos.  This is another great idea you can incorporate into your custom senior session.  If you play a sport, an instrument, dance or sing you can bring a prop from your hobby and incorporate that into some of your photos.

LONG ISLAND ENGAGEMENT PHOTOS/FRANK MELVILLE PARK

I had the opportunity to photograph Jackie & Nick’s engagement photos in beautiful Frank Melville Park in Long Island, NY.  Fall is one of my favorite seasons of the year. I love the cooler weather, the crisp air and the changing colors of the leaves.  It’s such a great time to take family photos and engagement photos.  The colored leaves whether they still are on the trees or if they have fallen to the ground makes for a beautiful backdrop.

Jackie & Nick both met in High School and after 9 years got engaged.   I could not be happier for a more sweeter couple than these two.   Congratulations again Jackie & Nick!

Are you engaged?   Having an anniversary?  Or would you just love to have some photos with your sweetie?  Feel free to contact me here to learn more about our engagement, anniversary and/or wedding packages.

I was this mommy’s Long Island Maternity Photographer last year when she was expecting her first child.  She contacted me a few months ago and told me that she was pregnant again with her second and wanted to have this maternity session taken at a beach in Long Island.  But wait….here is the best part.  Since she was expecting her second baby sometime around the same month as she delivered her first baby last year, she wanted to schedule the maternity shoot on the same date as she did last year!  She explained that she wanted to be able to have the photos side by side.  I told her that this was a great idea.  The only thing that we had to hope for was of course good weather.

On the day of her shoot, we met at Robert Moses State Park.  I absolutely love that beach.  It has abeautiful board walk that leads to the lighthouse and to either the bay or the beach.  I always have a tough time deciding between the bay or the beach.  Since the sun falls on the north side, the sunset is directly over the water on the bay side.  Since the beach side is on the south,  you don’t see the sun actually setting on that side, however you still get some of the remnants of the colored sky over there.    After taking some photos on the boardwalk path, we decided to go to the beach side.  I took some photos of the sun setting and then took some photos near the water.  Below are some of my favorites from the session.

I am a huge fan of silhouettes.  I just love these with the sun setting in the background.  This also allows me to get that warm orange and red in the sky.

The sky was quickly turning colors. It started as orange but then turned into  beautiful shades of pink and purple.

Back to the water and you can see the pink pastel undertones from the sky.  We clearly had a stunning sunset that evening and I am so glad that Gina got so lucky for this.
