Long Island Engagement Photos/Diana & Victor
I had the opportunity to take some engagement photos of Diana & Victor at this beautiful location in Long Island near Manhasset and Roslyn. There were so many pretty spots and my couple made perfect models. I captured some traditional poses and then some of what I like to call candid poses. Let’s discuss candid photos and candid posing in this blog. What is candid posing? Well, it is exactly what is sounds like. Posing that is candid. LOL. Now that was a really great definition. But seriously almost everyone likes getting candid photos captured of themselves because they want to look more natural in the photo rather than stiff and posed, but the thing with candid photos is that sometimes people can look awkward in their candid moments and when they try to pose themselves. In particular, the pose or stance that they are in at that candid moment may not be very flattering or it can make them look 10 pounds heavier. Or better yet if they are caught laughing and pull back, they will have a double chin or their mouth wide open (yes that happens all the time…..LOL). I can assure you that nobody wants a double chin or to look heavier. Better yet they don’t want to be caught at an awkward moment. My job as a photographer is to make my subjects look their very best. Even though some of the candids that I take are genuinely candid, in particular those that I usually keep significant distance away from my subjects, I still tend to pose my couples in a candid yet flattering way and then have one of them say something to the other person hoping to make them laugh naturally. Basically I set them up in a pose and then tell them what to do, after all my couples are not professional models and they don’t always know what to do and how they look like in my camera. That is my job as the professional photographer and why you need a professional to take your photos to assure that you look good.
Now back to a few photos from Diana & Victor’s engagement session.

Beautiful couple and amazing photos!
These are absolutely stunning! You captured their love so well during this engagement session.
Great stuff. To me though, “candid posing” is a bit of an oxymoron. So I would call it something more like “relaxed posing”. But that’s me. I totally get what you mean, and it works.
I love all three! Different types for different moods! 🙂
What a beautiful engagement session! I love the locations you choose- seems to match their outfits perfectly!! I am definitely a fan of more candid and natural moments, like laughter and joy, but I do love the occasional posed smile photo as well! 🙂
I love the clean and crispness of these photos. They are beautiful!
So fresh and Crispy! 🙂 Long Island and the couple look good together! I love posed candid the best, their poses are still nature but they don’t have to be confused about what to do!!
Such a great location for Long Island engagement photography. Great Job Irene !
