How to prepare for your headshots
Headshot Preparation Details for Men
General Tips on what to wear:
- Please make sure that your jacket and shirt fit well.
- Clothes should be neatly pressed
- Avoid busy patterns, stripes and graphics. It’s distracting! We want to focus on your face and not your shirt.
- Avoid light colors that approximate flesh tones, beige, tan, peach, pink and white
- No turtlenecks
Additional Tips for Men:
- The standard business look is a suit jacket, dress shirt and tie
- Please make sure that your tie is tied on properly.
- A casual business look is often a jacket and open dress shirt, shirt and tie (no jacket) or dress shirt on it’s own
- A white dress shirt by itself is not good – unless you plan to wear it underneath something (jacket or sweater)
- For a no jacket casual look, wear a colored shirt
-Please make sure you are clean shaved. I am not responsible for editing stubble.
-Please make sure shirts are neatly pressed. We will try to edit out minor wrinkles if any,
but huge wrinkles can’t be edited.
Hair: Style your hair as usual (if applicable) Neatly groom all hair, including clean
shaven or beard, nose, eyebrows and ears, my camera picks up every detail.
Make-up: None. I do not recommend makeup for men.
**Your shirt (and jacket) is your most important accessory, make sure it fits well
and is not too big or too small! Make sure that it fits you well in the shoulders
and neck. There should be no gaps between your neck and your shirt collar.
The seams of the shirt and jacket should place squarely on your shoulder
and not hang over. Try your choices on before the shoot.

- Wear a translucent powder. No shimmers
Use neutral natural tones and avoid shiny, frosty or glitter eye shadows
- Eyebrows (even if drawn on) to appear as natural as possible.
- Do not try or use a new product on your hair or face the day before your shoot in case you have a bad reaction.
